Michael Ried

Michael Reid is a Cybersecurity professional with over 20 years of professional experience providing Information Technology solutions within the private and public sector. As a civil servant, he began service to his country in 2004 in his hometown of Alameda, California with the US Coast Guard as a Web Developer and Database Administrator with a focus on securing web-based applications. In 2005, he began working for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in their Washington DC headquarters; turning his focus to the evolving requirements related to Cybersecurity with leading roles in Information Assurance and IT Auditing. In 2015, he returned to the west coast, accepting a role in support of the US Navy at the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific in San Diego, California. This position enabled him to utilize his leadership skills to facilitate the implementation of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) during the transition from the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DICAP).
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He received a scholarship in 2012 to attend the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he earned his Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity. He also is a member of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)² as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Currently he is working to attain his Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification. When he is not working or studying, Michael is either traveling abroad, or can be found somewhere outdoors running, biking, hiking, or enjoying the fine San Diego beaches with his dog Remy.
